Anton Russell

Anton is one of the best young athletes we have with a string of successes behind him as a sprinter, hurdler and long jumper. As an Under 17 he is settling into the long jump and 100 metres as his preferred events and last week gave evidence of his abilities as a jumper. On Wednesday he won the event at Linwood and then on Sunday at Bridge of Allan he cleared 19 feet and half an inch and 35 feet 10 inches in the triple jump. Both of these were off grass. One of the things about highland games meetings is that there is a big crowd watching and a lot of events going on. Anton seems to respond well to the atmosphere - something lacking at most track meets in Scotland these days!
