"In only his third race after his return from injury Allan Adams had a superb run in the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon on Sunday to finish in 12th place in 67:25. He was the fourth UK runner to finish and third Scot across the line. Second club runner to finish was Brian Gallagher in 1:19:12 - a personal best for the distance. He has been trying for some to get under the magic 1:20 mark - it should present no more problems for him in the future. Ten minutes back Cliff Brown ran well to be timed at 1:29:20 and he was followed by Pamela McCrossan who also ran a personal best of 1:38:40. Ian Robertson was not far adrift in 1:38:30. Peter Rudzinski was home in 1:38:30 and Gerry Kennedy four minutes back in 1:43:35. Stephen Baillie was the last runner for the club when he clocked 1:45:06.
The road and cross country relays which mark the end of the summer season and which most runners regard as the best time of the whole year begin on the last Saturday in September with the Kilbarchan 4 x 2.5 miles event for the George Cummings Trophy to be followed by the well established McAndrew Relay over 3.8 miles at Scotstoun. The Young Athletes start a day later in Rouken Glen for the Young Athletes Scottish Road Running Championships."
So the best of good luck to everyone competing this weekend - and remember that the short relays start at the end of September. The club also needs you in the County, Disrict and National Relays!
