Press Report week ending 26th October

The Lucerne Marathon was on Sunday in Switzerland. Two Clydesdale Harriers took up the challenge to complete this scenic course. First in for The Harriers was Bobby Rossborough in 3h 6m followed by Kath Scott in 3h 26m. Both had been injured in the run up to the marathon so the times were impressive considering less training had been done.

The day before back in ‘Sunny’ Scotland was the National Cross Country Relay Championships taking place in Cumbernauld. In truly atrocious conditions several brave junior and senior teams participated. First up was the Young Females running 2500 metres. The first leg was run by Chloe Wright (13.38) who then changed to Kirstie Kelly (15.08) then Diane Nicholson (14.30). Total time 43.16 which gave them 52nd place out of 68 teams who took part.

Second up was the Young Males who had two teams taking part. ‘A’ team was Connor Shields (14.35), Tony Dolan (12.44) and Peter Bowman (11.11). Total time 38.30 which gave them 59th position out of 75. ‘B’ team had David Newton (15.42), Scott McDade (14.07) and Mark Busby (12.59). Total time 42.48 and 65th position.

Next up was incomplete Senior Ladies team who ran 4000 metres and comprised of Marina McCallum (21.37).

Lastly we had two teams for the Senior Mens 4000 metres. ‘A’ team comprised of Prasad Prasad (15.29), John Foley (18.24), Gary Dick (17.29) and Iain Robertson (17.45). The previous weekend (Sunday 19th) had Marina McCallum travelling down to Carlisle to run in the Great Cumbrian Run. She finished 262nd out of 1429 runners in a time of 1.39.44 on an undulating course.
