The Hannah Cup was held over a good and testing course at the golf course at Dalmuir on Saturday resulting in a win for Prasad Prasad who was chased home by Ann Murray, Pamela McCrossan and Kath Scott. It was a good race spoiled only by the mist which rolled in as the afternoon passed and thanks are due to Peter Rudzinski and John Hanratty who organised the event, put out the flags and fixed the handicaps. Most of the runners helped collect the flags after the race and it was all in all a good afternoon.
It was disappointing that so few club members saw fit to compete - only six men and four women took part in one of the oldest races in the Scottish athletics calendar for a trophy first presented over 100 years ago. There are always some who are injured or have family commitments and the young athletes race the following day took away the Under 20 runners but all the others they should be supporting club events like this even if they do not want to compete for the club in open championships. It is hoped that the actual club championships in the New Year are much better supported.
There were several good races in the course of the event - Ann Murray won the rematch with Kath Scott to reverse the positions in the DAAA Championships, Ian Robertson moved away from Bobby Rosborough and Michael Diver who started with him for instance - and the course provided good running and runners could be seen at many points on the trail. It was a good afternoon.
