Press Report week-ending 25th January

The Clydesdale Harriers had a busy weekend (17th/18th) with young and old contesting in various events. Sunday had Kath Scott, Pamela McCrossan and Marina McCallum taking part in the Scottish Veteran Harriers Open Road Relay Championships at Strathclyde Park. All took turns in running around the perimeter of Strathclyde loch, a distance of 3.8 miles. First leg was Kath finishing sixth in 26.39 who changed over to Pamela who gained three places running 24.06, and finally changing over to Marina who managed to hold third place (26.28), thus winning the bronze medal for the team.

The Jack Crawford Springburn Cup (10k) was on Saturday 17th where no less than ten Harriers took part. First finisher for the club was Gerry Montgomery (37.23), followed by Paul Carroll (37.34), Brian Gallagher (38.36), John Foley (38.43), Bobby Rossborough (39.29), Pamela McCrossan (39.39), Anne Murray (42.32), Kath Scott (43.02), Fiona McCue (44.19) and Peter Rudzinnski (46.09).

The last event on that weekend was the DM Hall Closed Senior Indoor Champs and the DM Hall West District Indoor Champs both taking place in the Kelvin Hall. The Closed Senior event had Iain Robertson running in the 1500m. Iain ran brilliantly to achieve an indoor personal best in a time of 4.14.40 (4th place).

The next day at the West District Indoor Champs had Iain running again, this time running in the 800m achieving another personal best in a time of 2.02.5. Also running a pb was Under 17 Peter Bowman (2.05.8). Also running the same distance in their respective races was Under 15 Tony Dolan (2.39.5) and Under 13 Rachel Busby who finished 5th in her heat.

Nearer the start of January was the Scottish Athletics Indoor League also taking place at the Kelvin hall. Results are:
Under 20s Natalie Quinn 60m (5th 8.92s), Long Jump(4th 8.56m), Ryan Nelson 800m (2.27.5), Ryan Savage 400m (54.4s).
Under 17s Peter Bowman 400m (2nd 56.9s), 800m (2.10.1), Mark Busby 60m (8.70s), Shot Putt (6.85m), Andrew Cusick 200m (27.2s), Triple Jump (9.75m), Kirsty Kelly 300m (54.8s), 800m (3.10.8), Shott Putt (3.83m).
Under 15s David Newton 60m (9.85s), 200m (34.3s), Tony Dolan 400m (70.3s), 800m (2.31.3), Lewis Wood Shott Putt (7.57m), Mirren Wright 60m (9.97), 200m (34.9s), Beth Atkinson 60m Hurdles (13.05s), Shott Putt (5.64m), Claire Reid 300m (55.0s), 800m (3.01.8).
Under 13s Kirsty Alexander 60m (10.14s), Shott Putt (4.85m), Lauren Butler 200m (33.3s), Rachel Busby 800m (2.56.7), Long Jump (2.74m).
Under 11s Hannah Camilleri 60m (11.29s), Lewis Hay 60m (10.68), 600m (2.30.3)
