Sports Show

The club had a stand at the West Dunbarton Sports Show in the Play Drome on Saturday. With a clash with the Scottish Cross Country Championships, many club stalwarts were unable to help out as they did last time. However Donald Macleod had willing assistance from Johnathan Farrell, Mary Ann Savage and Natalie Quinn who had been up until 5:00 am after performing with her girl band the night before. They had the stand decorated with pictures of club members in action and were giving out handbills advertising the club. For activities there was the Standing Long Jump mats at the stall and many youngsters had a go in the course of the day. Then the club had a half hour slot to demonstrate their wares. Some of the club's younger members were on hand to demonstrate things and many visitors to the exhibition took part in the activities that included indoor javelin throwing and the use of agility ladders which was very popular with everyone. As well as providing the club with much needed publicity Donald and the others managed to do some networking with local councillors and officials as well. So it was a very successful day in every sense of the word. Thanks to the Council for putting it on, to all the club members, young and old who made it such a success and to Donald for working so hard organising on the day.
