Good Luck
Since I'll be away for a week and won't get to the six stage/four stage, best of luck to all those representing the club at Livingstone on Saturday. If the men support the club the way the women have done, then they could do quite well; for the women it will be very interesting to see how our athletes fare against the best in the country. The gaps that open up in the relays are sometimes quite big but the places are what count and they often don't alter too much after the first two stages. Relays are different to straight road races in that (a) you are running for the team and not for yourself and many runners respond to the shared responsibility by running better in relays than anywhere else; (b) the individual times are not the real target which takes some pressure off; (c) it's all about places - gaining them yourself or setting the teams in front up for the next runner, or at the least, keeping other clubs at bay. All the best, folks, I'll be scrutinising the papers and websites on Sunday morning!!!
