Well done, Pamela ... and the Team

I see that Pamela McCrossan was second Woman in the Balloch - Clydebank on Sunday in 1:29:10 and the Women won the team race by 72 points from Bellahouston Road Runners. The women are winning a lot of team prizes these days - more than the men by far. And there are many more men in the club than there are women. They have realised what the men have not. If they all turn out in the same events there is a better than average chance that they will come up with the goods. Pamela, Ann, Marina, Fiona, Kath, Christine all turn out a lot and usually in the same races. By chance I had an email at the weekend from an old training partner of mine who ran at one time for Gateshead Congers with a nucleus of only three men. By all going to the same races they won a lot of prizes in the North East of England. In the 60's and 70's the club's senior men almost always ran in the same races or at the same events. The result was lots of prizes as a team along with individual and handicap prizes for Phil, Douglas, Ian Leggett and myself. So come on chaps, how about a coordinated approach to road races and get the club's name on the prize lists?
