Some News

It's the time of year when track men come out into the daylight again: when you jog round the track, they're the ones with the white legs. Seen recently in Kelvin Hall was Alan McColl who is reported to have dropped about two and a half stone since his last public appearance. Timed by a rank amateur at 8.0 seconds for the 60 metres he seems to be getting back into shape! Team manager Donald Mac please take note!

Also seen has been West Dunbarton's Ross Cannon who used to run for us in the track league as an 800 metres runner but is now specialising in the 400 metres although he may well do an 800 or two before the very end of the season. If Donald can sweet talk them into it they might well be competing in the first men's League Match at Meadowbank in two weeks' time.

Johnathan Farrell just gets bigger and bigger and is training to his size - averaging six sessions a week andh seven sessions in seven days when he was home last week, he should be coming good at the right time in the season. Now that Peter Bowman is eligible for the team he should make a good pairing with Ian Robertson in the middle distance events. If big Paul Doherty can turn out that will be a big plus for the team too.

Meanwhile outdoors, Prasad was intending running in the Clachnaben Hill Race on Saturday but he has had a wee injury and his physio has suggested that he miss it. That would mean hoping for selection for the Scottish Hill Running team the next weekend on his current form. I'd guess he had a more than average chance of running it anyway. It would then be a weekend off racing before the Stuc a Chroin 14 Miles Hill Race at Strathyre (which Michael Diver has run in ten consecutive years). Prasad has won every other race in that neck of the woods (Callendar Crags, Ben Ledi, Ben Sheann and Lochearnhead Highland Games) but he will find his one a serious test of his intestinal fortitude! Four serious climbs and some scrambling at the very top - and all this against the best in Britain (it is a popular race with Anglos) will be no easy task. Mind you, having seen his running in the Carnethy 5 on Television last week I wouldn't bet against him! Specially knowing that he has ben out on a recce more than once in recent weeks.
