Sounds like a return to the old days of hard racing in club road races. Word is that there were about a dozen starters with John McArthur and Paul Carroll having a bit of a tussle before John won by six seconds (31:31 to 31:36) and Gerry Montgomery a minute further back in third in 32:44. Well done chaps and it looks like Paul's track racing is paying off!
