The Three Amigos were back in action recently at the Glasgow 800 which doubled as the Scottish Veterans 10K Championship at Cartha. With four runners we had two firsts, a second and a third. Bobby Young was eleventh after a slowish start for him in 41:12, just seven seconds ahead of Pete Cartwright in thirteenth after a fast start and Brian Campbell was only one place back in 42:08. This gave them the M65 1,2,3 which was not too bad at all. With any luck they will start on the GB title trail again! Meanwhile, in fifteenth place and only 16 seconds behind Brian, Pamela McCrossan was first W45 (first woman in any category come to that) to pick up another gold medal. Four runners within 72 seconds is very good packing but the guys had better look out. If there were any other club runners in the race that I have omitted, sorry but let me know and I'll put it right.
The Glasgow Park run 5000 metres road races have been well supported by club members all through the summer and with the short relays coming up from the last week in September they provide a good chance for some faster running over approximately the correct race distances right through to the Scottish Championship Relays.
