Press report week-ending 30th August

The Clydesdale Harriers have been busy over the past few weeks taking part in a number of events. Most recent was the Oban 10k on the 23rd where new member Donald Cameron finished 4^th overall in a time of 39.59 over the hilly course.

The same weekend on the previous day was the Bute Highland Games 10k where six of our members took part. No official results as yet but Gerry Montgomery was fastest finisher (4^th overall and winner of 1^st veteran prize) closely followed by Michael Diver, then Bobby Rossborough, Pamela McCrossan (2^nd Lady and winner of 1^st veterans prize), Marina McCallum (3^rd Lady and winner of 2^nd veterans prize) and Kath Scott (4^th Lady). A good day had by all and the beer tent was very good as well!

On Thursday 20^th was the Graham Clark Memorial 3.9 Mile Road Race which unusually took place on Knockhill Racing Circuit near Dunfermline. Pete Cartwright ran well to finish in a time of 24.54.

The previous day had Gus Cairney taking part in the Marymass 10k Road Race at Irvine Sports Club. He ran well to finish well up the field in a time of 38.08.

The weekend of the 16^th had two races – the first was the Bella 5k. This was run in and around Bellahouston Park and organised by Bellahouston Road Runners. Fastest Clydesdale was Paul Carroll (17.54), followed by Donald Cameron (18.35), Gerry Montgomery (18.41), Gus Cairney (18.48), Brian Reilly (19.47), Marina McCallum (20.32) and Colin Gray (23.47). The other race was the SVHC 10k Road Championships which took part in nearby Pollock Park. Fastest Clydesdale was Bobby Young (41.12 and 1^st vet 65), followed by Pete Cartwright (41.19 and 2^nd vet 65), Brian Campbell (42.08 and 3^rd vet 65), Pamela McCrossan (42.24 and 1^st vet 45) and Gerry Montgomery (38.08). This was Gerry’s second race in a matter of hours!

Lastly on the 12^th was the Canal Canter 4 Mile Trail Race which took place on the Forth and Clyde Canal at Bishopbriggs. Fastest finisher for the Club was Gerry Montgomery (24.07), Paul Carroll (24.16), Bobby Rossborough (25.59), Brian Campbell (27.32), Bobby Young (27.40), Kath Scott (27.46), Marina McCallum (30.48) and Colin Gray (32.30).
