News Report week ending 11th October

The Clydesdale Harriers had a busy weekend on the 3rd/4th of the month. Most recently with the Strathcarron Hospice 10k in Denny where Yvonne Green continued her rapid improvement by clocking a personal best in a time of 47.50.
On the same day was the SVHC (Scottish Veteran Harriers Club) Half Marathon Championships which took place on an out and back course in Clydebank along the canal towpath. It was a handicapped race but actual times for the three harriers who took part were: Gerry Montgomery (1.27.35), followed by Pamela McCrossan (1.31.41 and 1st vet over 45) and Marina McCallum (1.38.36 and 2nd vet over 35).

The previous day in extremely blustery conditions was the McAndrew Relays which took part on a circular course near Jordanhill of approximately 3.25 miles. Our ‘A’ team had first off Gerry Montgomery (19.16), changing over to Gary Dick (19.17), then John Foley (20.20) and finally Paul Carroll (18.50). ‘B’ team was incomplete but had Bobby Young (21.13), changing over to Pete Cartwright (21.43), and lastly Ryan Nelson (21.34).

Also that day was the Bella Ben Venue Hill Race which due to poor race conditions was shortened for safety. Michael Divers ran well to finish 31st in a time of 64.49.

Lastly Bobby Young was in the Fort William area to run in the Two Ferries Race (10 miles) to finish 10th in a time of 71.02.
