British and Irish Masters International

The club was represented in the Five Nations Masters International at Perry Park in Birmingham on Saturday by the usual suspects - the three amigos in the M65 race and former club member Ian Leggett was taking part in the M70 match. In the M65, the counting Scottish runners were Davie Fairweather who was fifth in 27:18, Pete Cartwright, sixth, in 27:22 and Bobby Young, seventh in 27:25 for the team to be second. Brian Campbell was a good bit back in 34:56.
Ian who was a good club member through the sixties and most of the seventies before moving to Livingston was fourth placed runner in the M70 category finishing in 29:19 leading the Scots to second team.
The course was apparently only over 6K or 3.7 miles which our athletes all felt was a bit short! There are some photos at www.rikko2photo.co.uk of the team and of the runners individually during the actual race.
