But Six Years Old?

I see from today's paper that Aston Villa has signed a six year old football player. One of their scouts apparently saw him playing for his team and his recommendation to the club was taken up. Where do you start to criticise this one? I don't know but I'll have a go anyway. First, should children as young as six be playing one organised sport as opposed to organised physical activity? I would think that they shouldn't because their bones and joints are still developing and can be seriously damaged by an injury. Second is their emotional and social development that they can commit themselves to regular training and in the long term?
Third, specifically about football, we all know that football players if they are really good can make massive amounts of money. Stories abound of their misuse of money - this week it was the story of the player who was earning (or being paid) £75000 a week and always in debt. He would take £40000 out of the bank on the Friday and have to take out another £25000 on the Monday. His agent was sueing him for non payment of fees. For a young boy of six to be taken up by a big club he is facing almost certainly a skewing of his education for a career that will probably never happen.
Anyway, after that kind of provocative rant, what do you think of youngsters taking up organised sport that early? I know rugby clubs and football clubs have Under 6's playing but is it a good idea? And do we want to follow their example?
