Most of the results for this race are now up on the web at the Kilmarnock Harriers website - by that I mean all except the Under 11 Girls. It was Ronnie Busby who pointed out that the Under 13 Girls results are listed twice. However it was a good day for the club and for coach Phil Dolan - it is interesting to note that as the age groups rose, so the runners were finishing further up the field culminating in Peter Bowman's comfortable win the in the Under 17 Men's race as noted below. In the Under 15 Boys race, Tony Dolan was twelfth in 19:35 and in the Under 13 Boys Race David Campbell was thirteenth in 13:32. The club's top Under 15 Girl is Claire Reid and she was fifth in her race in 23:44 and in the Under 13 Girls' race Rachel Campbell was twenty first in 9:34 with Caitlin Stuart only two seconds and two places behind. Roisin McShea and Rachel Busby ran in the Under 11's race and we eagerly await the final results to see just what they did. With these two together in the Dunbartonshire Championships the team result will be interesting.
It is unfortunate that there has been a lot of dithering this season on the part of Scottish Athletics about whether there will be championships at National or District Championships for Under 13's this year. One day there would be no District or National event for the age group, the next day there would be. Then it was maybe there will be. I think now that the situation is that there will be championships for this age group but we will really need to wait for the entry forms to come out before we really know. Have a look at the correspondence on the unofficial website at http://z3.invisionfree.com/unofficial_SAL to see what is being said about the Under 13's by disgruntled parents and coaches across the country. Go to Athletics in Scotland and then go to 'Under 13 Nationals Back?'
Never mind the boys and girls all did well at the weekend - it's funny how a couple of races every month make all the difference!
