News report week ending 11th April

Last weekend (3rd) was the Scottish Athletics Road Relay Championships at Almondvale. Clydesdale Harriers had one complete and one incomplete team running. The legs were alternate 3.15 miles and 5.85 miles. ‘A’ Team had Iain Robertson starting strongly (19.07), changing over to Brian Campbell (34.43), then Gerry Montgomery (19.20), Michael Diver (34.11), Mark Rudzinski (19.05), Paul Carroll (34.15). ‘B’ Team had Gary Dick starting (19.33), changing over to Bobby Young (38.55), then Pete Cartwright (21.04), Peter Rudzinski (44.07).

The same day had John Kennedy running in the Deeside Way 33 Mile Ultra Run near Aberdeenth in a time of 4h 33m. He also finished as 1st supervet. and finishing a respectable 8

The previous weekend had Yvonne Green travelling to Grangemouth for The Round the Houses 10k and putting in a strong run to finish in a time of 48.57.

Lastly was the Nigel Barge 10k (postponed from January) which took place in and around the Garscube Estate on Maryhill Road. Fastest finisher for the club was Michael Diver (35.46 and 1st vet 40), followed by Paul Carroll (37.01), Derek Halpin (39.00), Hugh Laverty (39.52), Gary Dick (40.54), Kath Scott (42.49 and 1st vet 45), Marina McCallum (43.47 and 1st vet 35), Chris Ryan (53.37), and Colin Gray (55.41).

The Junior Nigel Barge 3k Run had Roisin McShea winning in a time of 11.37, followed by Rachel Busby (12.43) and Claire Reid (12.48).
