The weekend of the 11
th had no less than three races being contested for Clydesdale Harriers. The first was the Ayr Open Graded Meeting for the juniors. This took place at
Dam Park. They all took part in several events each with many excellent results. Under 11 Girls had Caitlin Stuart doing Long Jump (1.76m pb), 80m (16s pb) and 800m (3.23.1 pb). Under 13 Girls had Rachel Busby doing Long Jump (3.21m), and 1500m (6.09.4). Rachel Campbell did long Jump (2.74m), 100m (16.6s pb), and 150m (25s pb). Under 15 Girls had Roisin McShea winning the 800n (2.45 pb) and 200m (29.8s pb). Under 11 Boys had Stephen Kane coming 3
rd in the 80m (13.7s pb), and doing 800m (3.07.5 pb). Under 13 Boys had Andrew Hunter winning all his events. Long Jump (4.34m pb), 100m (13.5s pb) and 200m (27.6s pb). Lewis Hay ran 100m (15.3s pb), and 800m (3.09.4). Under 15 Boys had David Campbell winning the Long Jump (4.03m pb), 2
nd in the 200m (29.5s pb) and 400m (72.2s).
The Tom Scott Memorial 10 Miler was also that weekend. It was run around Strathclyde Park. Fastest Harrier was Paul Carroll (59.24 pb), followed by Gerry Montgomery (61.05 pb), Hugh Laverty (64.42), Bobby Young (66.25), Bobby Rossborough (67.13), Pamela McCrossan (67.38 2nd vet 45) and Kath Scott (67.39).
Lastly was the Richie’s Run Multi Terrain Races (5 Mile and 9 Mile). These races are not for the faint hearted – extremely hard work but good fun! All run within the army training grounds near Faslane. In the 5 miler Colin Gray finished in 48.48. In the 9 miler Michael Diver won the race in a time of 58.58 , followed by Craig Calderwood (72.15), Marina McCallum (72.44 and 3rd female), and Peter Rudzinski (81.02).
