July is traditionally a quiet month for racing, however if you look you can generally find a few races to compete in. Clydesdale Harrier Jonathan Farrell travelled to Alva to compete in the Alva Games (10th) where he did the club proud by winning the Open 90m sprint and winning the John and Maree Hendry Sash in the process.
The same weekend was the Girvan Half Marathon. Not for the faint-hearted this hilly race was tough going but nonetheless scenic. Gerry Montgomery continued his excellent form by coming 9thst vet over 50 prize with an excellent 1.23.22. No less impressive was Pamela McCrossan who won 2nd female overall and only a minute behind the eventual female winner to run 1.31.04. overall and winning 1
Race results of the clubs own Sinclair Trophy will be as soon as they become available.
The next main races for the club include the Helensburgh Half Marathon (1st August), the Islay Half Marathon (7th) and the Scottish Gas/ City of Edinburgh 10k (1st) and the Achilles heel Bella 5k.
