News Report w/e 15th August

Clydesdale Harriers had a busy few weeks. Most recently was the Glasgow Parkrun at Pollock Park on the 14th which was used as one of our Summer League races. Fastest harrier was Gerry Montgomery (5th in a time of 18.05), closely followed by Gary Dick (18.17), Pamela McCrossan (20.19 and 1st female), Marina McCallum (20.49 and 2nd female), Anthony-Evan Jones (20.52), Watson Jones (22.32), Christine Duncanson (24.04), Colin Gray (25.00), and Sandy McDonald (25.58).

The previous weekend was the Isle of Mull Half Marathon where Christine Duncanson won 1st   pb), and Sandy McDonald (2.11.48). On the same day was the Achilles Heel Bella 5k where Gerry continued his excellent form to finish as 1st vet over 50 (winning the Peter Cunningham Memorial Cup) in a new personal best time of 17.39, followed by Pamela McCrossan (1st vet in 19.57), and Colin Gray (25.12). The day before was the Islay half Marathon where Marina McCallum won 4th female prize in a time of 1.36.37, followed by Brian Campbell (1.38.31). Also that day was the 43 mile ultra race the Devil O’ The Highlands (from Tyndrum to Fort William along the West Highland Way) where Aileen Scott ran 8.01.21 followed by Peter Halpin in 8.54.13. The last race that weekend was the DunRen Open Graded Meeting (Golden League Meeting) at Linwood. Under 13 Andrew Hunter ran in the 100m (12.91), 200m (27.31) and jumped 4.82m in the Long Jump. Under 17 Claire Reid won her heat of the 800m (2.43.30) closely chased by Under 15 Roisin McShea (2.43.51). Under 11 Caitlin Stuart ran (3.33.82) in her heat of the 800m. Lastly in the 1500m Peter Bowman finished third in a time of 4.18.05). Supervet in a time of 1.48.03, followed by Watson Jones (1.42.47

Running from the 2nd until the 6th of the month was the Tour of Clydeside which started with the Kilbarchan Klassic Trail Race (approx 5.5 miles) on the Monday, the Canal Bank Canter (approx 4.8 miles) on the Tuesday, the Garscube Gallop Multi-Terrain (approx 5k) on the Thursday, then finishing off with the Bellahouston Belter 10k on the Friday. Gerry Montgomery, Pamela McCrossan and Bobby Young took up the challenge and all came away with prizes winning 3rd (Pamela) and 1st vet 60 (Bobby). (Gerry), 2

Lastly on the 1st of the month was the Helensburgh half Marathon where Gerry Montgomery was yet again the fastest harrier finishing as 1st vet 50 in a personal best time of 1.21.08, followed by Kevin Farmer (1.21.30 pb), Donald Cameron (1.26.04 pb), Mark Collins (1.26.35), Pamela McCrossan (2nd vet), Marina McCallum (1.39.13), Christine Duncanson (1.49.30), and Colin Gray (2.05.39). The other race that day was the Scottish Gas City of Edinburgh 10k where Yvonne Green ran 50.04.
