News Report w/e 17th October

The weekend of the 9^th was the West Districts Cross Country Relays which took place in Rouken Glen Park, Giffnock. Clydesdale Harriers had several teams running. First off was the Junior Under 11 Boys running 1500m. We had an incomplete team comprising of young Lewis (12.07) and Stephen (11.46). Next was the Junior Under 13/15/17 Girls running 2500m. We had Rachel Busby off first (12.20), changing to Roisin McShea (11.22) and finishing with Claire Reid (11.55). The Junior Under 13/15/17 Boys had Andrew Hunter (11.42), changing to David Campbell (11.03) and Tony Dolan (10.08). Next off was the Senior Women running 4000m. Pamela McCrossan ran first (18.02), changing to Kath Scott (18.28) and Marina McCallum (18.33). finally it was the Senior Men running the same distance. We had three teams, one incomplete. Team ‘A’ had Peter Bowman starting (14.34), changing to Paul Carroll (16.09), Gerry Montgomery (15.55) and Gary Dick (15.42). Team ‘B’ had Iain Robertson starting (17.20), changing to Ryan Nelson (17.07), Hugh Laverty (17.07) and Pete Cartwright (18.21). Team ‘C’ had Bobby Young running first, followed by Peter Rudzinski and finally Colin Gray.

The previous weekend was the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club Half Marathon running out along the Forth and Clyde Canal from Clydebank to Firhill and back. This was a handicapped event however actual times are listed. Fastest harrier was Gerry Montgomery (1.22.26), followed by Pamela McCrossan (1.30.33) and Marina McCallum (1.42.46). Pamela was winner of the handicap prize.

The day before was the McAndrew Relays at Jordanhill. Paul Carroll was first off (19.19), followed by Jeff Farquhar (17.41), Pete Cartwright (22.26) and Bobby Young (23.11).
