News Report w/e 23rd October

Last weekend (23rd) Clydesdale Harriers competed in the National Relays Cross Country Championships at Cumbernauld. Results next week. (see photos below)

The previous weekend was the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 10000m track championships at Coatbridge. Where Gerry Montgomery came an impressive third in 36.30, followed by Pamela McCrossan making her debut at track running finishing third female in 40.33, then Pete Cartwright (42.02 ).

The previous day was the Dunbartonshire Relays Cross Country Championships which took place in Duchess Woods, Helensburgh in what turned out to be a beautiful autumnal, sunny day. Under 11’s were off first running 1500m. This was not a relay event. Fastest harrier was 6th placed Stephen Kane (7.55). In the girl’s race young Eve Kerr ran well to run 9.08. Next off was the Under 13/15/17 Boys. ‘A’ team had Andrew Hunter running 1st leg in 10.35, changing over to Connor Ewing (8.40) and finishing with Tony Dolan (8.12). ‘B’ team had Lewis Hay running 1st leg (10.33), changing over to David Campbell (9.08) and finishing with Lewis Wood (11.32). Next off was the Under 13/15/17 Girls. Sadly due to illness there were no incomplete teams. ‘A’ team had Rachel Busby running well in 10.42 to complete 1st leg. ‘B’ team had Jenny Kerr running 12.07 and Ciari Devanney running 11.08. Next off was both Senior Men and Women. The men had ‘A’ team Peter Bowman running a blistering 1st leg (14.21), changing to Paul Carroll (15.34), changing to Gerry Montgomery (15.29), and finally a solid last leg from Gary Dick (15.02). The team finished fourth overall just narrowly missing out of the prizes. ‘B’ team was incomplete and comprised of Iain Robertson running 1st leg (16.20), changing to Ryan Nelson (16.33) and finally Colin Gray (22.02). The Women had ‘A’ team comprising of Kath Scott running 1st leg (18.18), changing to Marina McCallum (18.13), and finally Pamela McCrossan putting in her usual gutsy run (17.32). The team ended up finishing as 2nd team overall behind the very strong Garscube Harriers team. ‘B’ team had newly joined member (former junior runner) Jolene Ennis testing her fitness running an excellent 18.16.
