News Report w/e 21st November

A successful weekend of the 13th/14th was had by many members of Clydesdale Harriers. The Kilmarnock H and AC Open Cross Country took place near St Joseph’s Academy and several of the younger members took part. Under 11 Caitlin Stewart ran well in her race to finish 25th in 10.11.Under 15 Roisin McShea came 2nd in her race to run 21.25 over a longer distance.
Under 17 Claire Reid was 9th in 24.40. Under 13 Lewis Hay was 20th in his race in a time of 14.27. Finally Under 20 Peter Bowman won his race in an excellent 34.36.

The British and Irish Masters Cross Country International Championships in Dublin had several of our older members running. Gerry Montgomery ran an excellent 31.46 (36th place) in his Over 50 age category over approximately 5 miles and was part of the Bronze medal winning team. The Over 65s had Pete Cartwright finishing 13th in 27.18, Bobby Young 16th in 27.48, and Brian Campbell 17th in 27.55 over  approximately 4 miles. Sadly they were out of the medals this year.

Lastly that weekend was the annual ‘getaway’ race where a lot of the members stay overnight somewhere a bit further afield. This year was our turn to go to run in the Glen Clova Half Marathon (near Kirriemuir). Remote and hilly, this race wasn’t for the faint-hearted. Fastest Harrier was Kevin Farmer (1.26.42), followed by Donald Cameron (1.28.26), Bobby Rossborough (1.29.47), Hugh Laverty (1.31.17), Kath Scott (1.33.18 – 4th female and 1st  - 1st veteran over 70), Yvonne Green (2.01.50), Marie Rippon (2.07.22), Sandy McDonald (2.15.41). Kath, Marina and Fiona also won 2nd female team. veteran), Stuart Allison (1.37.05), Marina McCallum (1.38.54), Martin King (1.39.33), Hugh Watson (1.42.22), Fiona McCue (1.42.49), Peter Rudzinski (1.46.15), Christine Duncanson (1.50.59), Chris Ryan (1.51.18), Watson Jones (1.52.33

Next races for the harriers are the Dunbartonshire Cross Country Championships at Maryhill Park (27th), the West Districts Cross Country Championships at Irvine (4th December), and our own club cross country the Hannah Cup at Dalmuir Park (11th December)
