News Report w/e 5th December

With appalling weather conditions recently there was very little to report on in the way of races. The West District Cross Country Championships at Irvine were postponed due to snow (it shows how bad things are when they cancel cross country due to the weather!).

The previous weekend (27th November), just before the snow got really bad, had Clydesdale Harriers taking part in the Dunbartonshire Cross Country Championships at Maryhill Park. A successful and enjoyable day was had by all who took part. Under 11 boys had Stephen Kane finishing 3rd in a time of 4.34 (bronze medalist) over the shortened, snow covered course (supposed to be about 1 mile) closely followed by Connor Higgins (4.39). Under 11 Girls had Caitlin Stuart running 5.23, followed by Eve Kerr (5.31). Under 13 Boys had Lewis Hay running a shortened 2 mile course in 10.27. Under 13 Girls had Rachel Busby showing some of her old form coming 3rd in 9.33 (bronze medalist), followed by Jenny Kerr (12.23). Under 15 Boys Connor Ewing ran well to finish in 13.23 over a shortened 3 mile course and Under 17 Lewis Wood finished in 20.02. Senior Women ran a shortened 4 mile course with Pamela McCrossan just pipping Kath Scott in an exciting race to finish in 24.18 and 24.20 respectively. This was followed by Marina McCallum (25.24) and Jolene Ennis (25.57). Pamela, Kath and Marina also were 2nd team (silver medalists). The Senior men had Peter Bowman (1st Under 20) finishing 3rd overall in a time of 29.42 over a shortened 6 mile course, followed by Gary Dick (31.27), Paul Carroll (32.28), Gerry Montgomery (33.02), Iain Robertson (33.52), John McArthur (34.09), Bobby Rossborough (35.17), Hugh Laverty (35.43), and Peter Halpin (39.54). Peter, Gary, Paul and Gerry finished as 3rd team overall (bronze medalists).

The same day was the Hugh Wilson Memorial 10k in East Kilbride where Robert Rossborough (Junior) ran well to finish in 42.54.
