Athletics Weekly

The Athletics Weekly website underwent a revamp recently and it's not been to everyone's liking - part of the reason has been the removing of their forum. This followed a change of ownership of the magazine. This week on the web it has some interesting stories though. The top item is about the training done at Aldershot by the Aldershot, Farnham and District club (AFD) and their coach Mick Wood. In the absence of the forum, many have chosen to comment on it on the Athletics Daily website (the Tim 400 page) many doubting the value of the type of training done, others saying that it is only useful for athletes up to Under 17, etc, but have a look for yourself. There are also items on Vets Injuries, How much time should be spent by coaches with the various age groups and one on how to keep on training in snow. A wee warning: it is not obligatory to accept all that you read in magazines or on the web. The people writing them are human like you and me and their opinion needs to be looked at with a critical eye. BUT ...... I never liked athletes who didn't want to learn about their event. If you are serious, read about your event, look at videos and talk to people.
