News Report w/e 30th January

On Sunday 30th Clydesdale Harriers were busy competing in two events – the Scottish Athletics 4K Cross Country Championships at Bellahouston Park and the LSK Supplies Open Veterans Road Relays at Strathclyde Park. Results as soon as they become available.

Previous to that was the Garscube Harriers Schools Races (Mugdock Park) where we had two young harriers competing. Roisin McShea ran in the S1/S2 race winning convincingly in 9.27. In the S3/S4 race Connor Ewing ran an excellent race finishing in a time of 17.23 for the longer distance.

On the 16th January was the rescheduled West District Cross Country Championships at Irvine. Under 13 Girls ran 3200m and had Rachel Busby running well to finish in 15.02, followed by Rachel Campbell. Under 13 Boys had Lewis Hay running 15.56.

Under 15 Girls had Roisin McShea running 4400m in a time of 19.33. Under 15 Boys had David Campbell running 21.52.

Under 17 Girls had Claire Reid running 21.59 over 4400m.

Under 20 Men had Peter Bowman running 10000m in a swift 35.08, followed by Ryan Nelson (41.06).

Senior Women were running 6400m and had Pamela McCrossan completing the run in 27.14 and finishing as 3rd veteran over 40. This was followed by Kath Scott (28.10) and Marina McCallum (28.18).

Senior men had Gary Dick as fastest harrier in 36.29 over 10000m, closely followed by Gerry Montgomery (36.50) and Paul Carroll not far behind. Next was Bobby Rossborough (40.24), Bobby Young (43.45) and lastly Peter Rudzinski (48.09).

Please note that the Club Cross Country Championships are at Carleith Farm on the 12th February, followed by the National Cross Country Championships at Falkirk on the 19th, and the following week by the rescheduled club race the Hannah Cup (26th at Dalmuir Park).
