John's Group

As I say below, John Hanratty's group is more impressive every week that I see it! If that sounds patronising, it's certainly not meant to!!! To start with, they were a bit tentative - with no track in Clydebank, they had had no experience of running within the confines of eight lanes and surrounded by children of all ages, and seniors doing different events. It took maybe two nights to settle in and the group is now very impressive. On Tuesday night John had them handicapped according to pace and the discipline was there right to the end. A track session is much more structured than a road or grass session.
One of the spin-offs from this session and the obvious enjoyment has increased the numbers and brought several former members back. I was talking to Dewar Stewart the other night and the week before it was Brian Gallagher who was making his first appearance on the track. "Do you remember me?" or "You don't remember me!" are two remarks heard recently from returning seniors!
Who'll be next? Brian Potts? Charlie McIntosh??
Congratulations to John for organising the group and doing such a good job!
