Last Thursday was the Kirkintilloch Olympians 10k where Clydesdale Harriers had no less than sixteen members competing with some excellent results. The course was predominantly flat but mainly run over trail. Fastest harrier and fourth overall (though he was awarded 3rd prize) was Donald Cameron continuing his excellent form in a time of 35.31, followed by Kevin Farmer (39.09), Stuart Allison (42.08), Martin King (42.10), Anne Murray (43.30), Marina McCallum (43.35), Brian Reilly (44.28), Mark Barrow (44.38), Fiona McCue (45.28), Christine Duncanson (47.12 and 1st vet over 45), Yvonne Green (49.50 and 3rd vet over 45), Stephen McKee (51.13 pb), Colin Gray (53.34), Marie Rippon (54.22), Evelyn McKee (57.16), and Tricia Stevenson (57.17). Anne, Marina and Fiona were also winners of 2nd female team.
The previous Sunday (12th) was the last in the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Series at the Vale of Leven. Fastest harrier was Donald Cameron (35.24), followed by Kevin Farmer (38.39), Derek Halpin (39.19), Christine Duncanson (47.59), Yvonne Green (48.49), Stephen McKee (52.17), Marie Rippon (53.42), Colin Gray (54.09), Evelyn McKee (55.29), and Sandy McDonald (67.10). There was also a 5k organised and two of the younger members of the club took part. Fastest was Roisin McShea finishing in 22.27, followed by Lewis Hay (24.46).
On the Saturday of the same weekend was the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games 10k. Over this exceptionally tough course had Gerry Montgomery finishing sixth overall in a time of 38.58, followed by Marina McCallum (44.47 and 3rd female), and Brian Reilly (47.20).
