The cross country season continued in earnest with Clydesdale Harriers competing in the Scottish Athletics 4k Cross Country Championships at Bellahouston Park. In near perfect conditions men and women raced over the predominantly flat but muddy course. Senior/Junior Women were off first. Fastest harrier was Anne Murray continuing her excellent form to finish in a time of 17.35, followed by Marina McCallum (18.20), Fiona McCue (18.35), and Yvonne Green (19.57).
The Senior/Junior Men ran next with fastest harrier being Under 20 runner Peter Bowman (14.17), followed by Paul Carroll (15.35), Iain Robertson (16.26), Ryan Nelson (17.02), Hugh Laverty (17.09), Paul McKendry (17.38), and Watson Jones (19.57).
The previous weekend had four harriers running in the Allan Scally Road Relays at Baillieston. Paul Carroll went off first running the 4.8 mile course in 28.20, changing over to Michael Diver (28.12), changing over to Mark Barrow (33.02), finally changing to Colin Gray (37.50), finishing as 26th team overall.
Forthcoming races for the harriers is the Brampton to Carlisle 10 Mile Road Race (19th), the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International and the SVHC Open Veterans Cross Country Race both on the 26th at Bellahouston Park, and the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Race also on the 26th at Posties Park, Dumbarton.
