On the 10th of the month Clydesdale Harriers of all ages travelled down to Irvine for the Scottish Athletics West District Cross Country Championships. Results as soon as they become available.
On the 26th of last month was the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country Championships at Dumbarton. The Under 11 boys were off first running 1500m. R. Ross finished 8th overall in 7.57, followed by A.Quinn (8.11), M.McColgan (8.22). Under 11 Girls had N.Shaw finishing 10th in 8.59, followed by Eve Kerr (9.05), C.Allan (9.50), and S.Hassan (10.54).
Under 13 Boys had B.Baird finishing 15th in 14.32, followed by Lewis Hay (15.03), and Stephen Kane (15.26). Under 13 Girls had Iona Allan finishing 16th in 16.05, followed by Charlotte Ross (16.50), and Aimee Abbott (18.11).
Under 15 Girls had Erin Ball finishing 10th in 26.34.and Under 17 Women had Claire Reid finishing 3rd in 29.32.
Lastly was the Senior Men who ran 6400m. Fastest harrier was Michael Diver who finished 13th in a time of 38.53, followed by Paul Carroll (38.58), Iain Robertson (41.22), Kevin Farmer (43.42), Paul McKendry (45.12), Gerry Kane (51.25), and Colin Gray (52.03).
Also that day was the International Cross Country Championships – a selection race for over 35s which had competitors from England, Ireland and Wales as well as from Scotland. Bellahouston Park was the venue. In atrocious conditions Over 65 harrier Pete Cartwright finished well in 27.07 over the 6k course, followed by Watson Jones running 29.01 in the Over 70 age category. There was also an open race after the International over exactly the same course. Ann Murray ran well to finish in a time of 26.06, followed by Marina McCallum (29.08), and Alistair Kerr (29.32).
