The weekend of the 10th was a busy one for
Clydesdale Harriers. Firstly was the British and Irish Masters International
Cross Country in Belfast where five of our runners were selected to run. Race 1
was 6k in distance and for the Women aged 35-65+. Pamela McCrossan ran well to
finish in the W50 category to finish as second counter for the team in a time
of 24.58. The team were also Bronze medallists overall.
Race 1 also had the Men in the 65-70+ age categories. We had two runners selected. Pete Cartwright
had an excellent run finishing as a Silver medallist in the individual M70 and
a Bronze medallist as part of the Scottish team (25.32). Watson Jones also had
a good run in the same age category finishing in 28.58.
Race 2 was the Men in the 50-64 age category running 8k. We
had Gerry Montgomery running well to finish in a time of 31.44.
Race 3 was the Men in the 35-49 age category also running
8k. We had Paul Carroll putting in a strong run to finish in 29.52.
Also that day, a little closer to home, was the Jimmy
Irvine/ Achilles Bella 10k at Bellahouston Park. Fastest harrier was David
Brown finishing in 40.13, followed by Alan Dick (41.48), Yvonne Green (45.45),
and Stephen McKee (51.51).
The following day was the SAL 4k Cross Country Championships
also at Bellahouston Park. Fastest harrier was Paul McKendry (17.11), followed
by Gerry Kane (18.21), Marina McCallum (18.52), Yvonne Green (19.43), and
Claire Reid (22.23).
A Family Night was organised for the younger members of the
club so they could receive last years presentation prizes. A good night was had
by all young and old who attended.
