Last Friday was the Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k at Pollock
Park for Clydesdale Harriers. It was a two lap flat course run in warm
conditions. Fastest harrier was Marina
McCallum finishing in a time of 43.08, followed by Watson Jones (48.21 and 1st
veteran over 70).
The night before was the Kirkintilloch 10k which was run
mainly on the canal towpath. Fastest harrier was Donald Cameron who managed to
outkick his teammate, Paul Carroll, in the closing stages, to finish 2 second
ahead in 36.13. Not far behind was Robert O’Neill finishing strongly in a new
personal best time of 36.56, followed by Hugh Laverty (40.29), Bobby Young
(45.17), Stuart Allison (46.04), Christine Duncanson (47.03), Stephen McKee
(50.23), Colin Gray (51.40), and Evelyn McKee (56.15).
The previous Sunday had Colin Gray running in the Mens
Health Forum 10k near Bellahouston Park. He finished in a seasons best time of
48.15. Also that day in the south of Scotland was the Mabie Forest 10k Trail Race
where Yvonne Green ran well over the hilly course to finish in 54.34.
Lastly, on the 13th of the month was the Rouken
Glen 10k. Fastest harrier was Paul Carroll (36.20), followed by Donald Cameron
(36.58), John Fox (38.23), Brian Gallagher (38.42), Hugh Laverty (41.23), and
Christine Duncanson (48.17). Paul, Donald and John won 1st male team
over the hilly course.
On Friday (28th) is the Calderglen Trail Races in
East Kilbride and on Saturday (29th) is the CSSL (Central and South
of Scotland League) at Wishaw for track and field events for both young and
older athletes.
