Last Sunday no less than seven Clydesdale Harriers travelled
up to Mull to run in the Mull Half Marathon and 10k. Results next week.
Last week was the Tour of Clydeside. Competitors had to
complete four races in five days. Unfortunately due to marshalling error one of
the races didn’t count this year. This left three to be contested. The first
race was the Kilbarchan Klassic 5.5 Miles. Pamela McCrossan was the fastest
harrier and 1st Female home in a time of 36.38, followed by Gerry
Kane (40.07), and Bobby Young (40.15). The next race was the Garscube Gallop
Multi-Terrain 5k Race which took place in Dawsholm Park. Pamela was again 1st
Female finishing in a time of 20.45, followed by Bobby Young (22.01). The final race in the
series was the Bella Belter 10k Road Race which started at Pollock Park.
Fastest harrier was Robert O’Neill who ran a personal best time of 36.09 and 6th
overall. This was followed by Pamela McCrossan (42.22 and 2nd female),
and Bobby Young (44.08). Pamela was the race series female winner and Bobby
Young was 1st over 60 for the series.
The previous weekend was the Helensburgh Half Marathon.
Fastest harrier was Paul Carroll who finished as 1st Veteran over 40
in a time of 1.18.04. Robert O’Neill had a great run finishing in a personal
best time of 1.22.48, followed by Brian Gallagher (1.29.02), Christine
Duncanson (1.45.05), Stephen McKee (1.52.59), and Evelyn McKee (2.03.50). Paul,
Robert and Brian also finished as 2nd Team overall.
Also that day was the CSSL Track and Field Meeting at
Kilmarnock which had Clydesdale Harriers young and old competing in various
events. We had an excellent day finishing first in Division 2 and cementing our
position as a force to be reckoned with. A more detailed report about the day
soon.
