Young Athletes League

Despite the absence on holiday of several young athletes like Andrew Cusick and Cameron MacLeod, the depleted team performed well at Linwood on Sunday. As far as the girls were concerned, Victoria McCue did well in the 1500 in 4:38.2 with Kirsty Alexander not far back in 4:52.1. The bravery award has to go to Kirsty Kelly who hurt her knee in the hurdles where she finished fourth in 17.5 and then insisted on finishing the 1500. Chloe Wright was fifth in the 800 in 3:06.1.

On the boys side the Under 17 Relay team was unlucky to miss second and take third place with Andrew Dunbar, Craig Prior, Anton Russell and Mark Busby the heroes. They had all performed well in their individual events. At Under 13 Greig Morrison was third in the 100, fifth in the 200 and third in the long jump while Connor Shields was sixth in the 800 and competed in the Long Jump and Shot Putt. Tony Dolan had two third places in the Under 15 800 and 1500 races against boys older than he was, Lewis Wood had a third (Shot Putt) and a fourth (Discus) and Keir Martin was timed at 14.8 for the 100 and 32.1 for the 200 metres. The Under 17 boys had Craig Prior in the 200 (25.1), 400 (60.6) and long jump (4.72), Anton Russell in the 100 (11.8), Long Jump (5.84) and Shot Putt (8.67 metres), Andrew Dunbar in the 400 (60.6), and Mark Busby in the 100 metres (13.5) and Shot Putt (7.11 metres). On a day not made for good performances, they all performed well.
