News Report w/e 1st May

On the 24th April Clydesdale Harriers were at Wishaw for the Scottish Young Athletes League. Under 13 Girls had Rachel Campbell running in the 75m (12.26), 150m (25.35), and jumping 3.16m in the Long Jump. Under 15 Girls had Roisin McShea running in the 200m (32.37), 1500m (5.27.43) and throwing 3.69m in the Shot Putt. Under 17 Women had Claire Reid running in the 100m (14.56), 800m (2.52.57) and throwing 11.53m in the Javelin. Under 13 Boys had Stephen Kane running in the 100m (17.07), 1500m (6.06.32), and jumping 2.44m in the Long Jump. Under 15 Boys had Andrew Hunter running in the 100m (12.62), 200m (26.17), and jumping 5.16m in the Long Jump. C.Kane ran in the 800m to finish in 3.15.87, and 200m in 36.02. David Campbell ran in the 80m Hurdles (13.72), 400m (59.5), and threw 7.82m in the Shot Putt. Under 17 Men had Conor Ewing running in the 800m (2.20.78), 1500m (4.52.08), and jumped 3.67m in the Long Jump.
Also that weekend but further away in Lancashire Marina McCallum travelled down to run two ten milers in the space of three days – the first was in the village of Caldervale – where in sweltering conditions and a hilly course she finished as fourth female in a time of 1.13.34. The next ten miler was in Fleetwood over a flat course where she finished as fifth female and won first veteran over 35 in a time of 1.09.31.
Several days earlier a bit closer to home was the Kaim Hill Race at Fairlie where Michael Diver finished well up the field in 37.58.
The weekend of the 17th had the Scottish Athletics League at Grangemouth. Jonathan Farrell ran the 100m and 200m finishing in 11.85 and 26.02 respectively. Peter Bowman ran in the 400m to finish in 57.19. Iain Robertson ran the 800m in 2.05.76. Ryan Nelson ran in the 800m and the 1500m clocking times of 2.22.72 and 4.23.68 respectively. Ryan Savage competed in the Long Jump (4.32m). The 4x100m relay had Jonathan Farrell starting, changing to Peter Bowman, changing to Iain Robertson, finally to Ryan Savage, finishing in a time of 49.46. The 4x400m Relay had Peter Bowman starting, changing to Iain Robertson, changing to Ryan Nelson, finally to Conor Ewing, finishing in a time of 4.02.28.
