On the weekend of the 11th four brave souls from Clydesdale Harriers took the ferry over to the island of Cumbrae to run in the Cumbrae 10.25 mile Road Race. In truly atrocious conditions fastest harrier was Stuart Allison who finished 26th overall in a time of 69.25, followed by Marina McCallum (71.18 and second female), Christine Duncanson (79.50 and first veteran over 45), and Marie Rippon (90.02).
Coming soon for the harriers are the relay events – first event on the 24th September is the George Cummings Road Relays at Houston (2.30pm start), followed by the McAndrew Road Relays in Jordanhill (3pm start). These events are entry on the day. After that we have the three Cross Country Relay events – on the 8th is the West Districts (venue tbc), followed a week later by the Dunbartonshires (Duchess Woods, Helensburgh), and finally the Nationals (Cumbernauld) on the 22nd October. The West Districts and the Nationals are pre-entry only so if any harriers are interested they will have to let either Yvonne Green (secretary), Marina McCallum (ladies captain), or Paul Carroll (mens captain) as soon as possible!
