Age Group Championships
In the Age Group Championships at Grangemouth on Saturday and Sunday, there were several of the club's younger members taking part. Peter Bowman had a good day on Sunday. The 800 metres races were run in a new format - two Heats and the fastest eight going into the A Final and the next eight going into a B Final. Peter's time of 2:5.4 in the first Heat was quicker than Craig Prior (of West Dunbarton) but both were in the B Final where Peter ran 2:4.6 - slightly outside his pb but still a good performance. Anton Russell took part in the Under 17 Long Jump where his 5.76 metres was good enough to get through the cut and see him finish seventh. Young Tony Dolan was giving away up to two years in age (and about a foot in height and a stone in weight) to some of the competitors and didn't make the final despite a creditable time of 5:17.9 in the Under 15 boys 1500 metres. Other results for the remaining competitiors when I get them.
