Crown Point OG

In the Open Graded Meeting at Crown Point on Tuesday, coach Phil Dolan's group all performed well in the 800 metres series on a wet and unpleasant night. Ian Robertson won his Heat of the 800 metres in a new pb of 2:02.9 with Peter Bowman fourth in the same race in 2:04.6. It was maybe a fair reflection of recent racing since Ian has run quite a lot of 800's this year already while Peter is just back from four weeks in Australia. Ryan Nelson also ran a pb of 2:23 in his race and Tony Dolan was just outside his personal best for the distance with a time of 2:33. Under 11 Rachel Busby was second in her heat in 2:58.9 after turning in a time of 16.5 in the 100 metres. Anton Russell and his young brother Chris took part in a long jump with a slippery take off board and soggy sand to jump well but well below their best distances - Anton was 5.45 metres and Chris was 70 cm below his best with 4.20 metres.

The open meetings next week are at Crown Point on Tuesday and at Linwood on Wednesday. Most of the youngsters will be at Linwood since they will be taking part in the age group Scottish Championships at Pitreavie at the week end. This will give them an extra day's recovery. This Wednesday's club championships finale in the Kelvin Hall was postponed to next week since the Strike closed the building.
