Mark Govan

Mark Govan has become a Daddy again! Former club secretary Mark's wife Karen had a wee girl (well, over 9 lbs if that's wee!) on 4th August. She is to be called Eilidh Isobel Govan. For those who don't know him, Mark who is in his mid 30's and who had a couple of years as club secretary before Yvonne took over, was a member of the outstanding club men's and boy's teams in the 80's and 90's. He won the West District Junior 400 metres championship, the Scot Unis 800 metres championship twice and ran for a Scottish Junior Select over the country at Gateshead. The wee girl is named after his Mum Isobel who was a Grade Two Field Events official and officiated on the club's behalf all over Scotland, from Dumfries to Inverness, at Carlisle and even in Ireland when we competed in the Gold Cup there in the mid 90's.
In recognition of this, the club presented her with a special award in, I think, 2001. It's good to have another Isobel Govan!
