Press Report w/e 24th August

Last Saturday (23rd) had a total of eight Clydesdale Harriers out and about in various races. Four took the ferry to the island of Bute for the Bute Highland Games 10k. A flat course with the exception of a hill climb in the last kilometre it generally produces fast times but unfortunately an extremely strong wind was blowing which slowed runners down considerably in the final half of the race. First finisher for the club and 3rd overall was Paul Carroll in 36.06, followed by Michael Diver (37.15), Gerry Montgomery (39.04) and Pamela McCrossan (42.08). Pamela was also 2nd lady overall.

The Drymen 10k on the same day was never going to produce fast times with everyone running much slower than normal due to the extremely hilly nature of the course. First finisher for the club was John McArthur in 39 mins finishing well up on the field. Next harrier to finish was Bobby Rossborough (41 mins), Kath Scott (44.19) and Christine Duncanson (50 mins). Kath was also 2nd lady overall.

The previous weekend (17th) we had the Bella 5k, organised by Bellahouston Road Runners, which took place in and around Bellahouston Park. Colin Gray was first finisher for the Club (25.37), followed by John Hutchinson (25.59).
