Press Report weekending 21st December

Three races in four days were contested last week for the Clydesdale Harriers. The first was the Hannah Cup – a cross country “Club only” event which took place on Dalmuir Golf Course on the 13th. Over approximately 5.5 miles it was a handicapped event so the start was staggered to allow for the varying abilities of the club members – slowest first, fastest last. In time order (but not finishing order) were Prasad Prasad (31.18) and winner of the Hannah Cup, then Iain Robertson (36.26) winner of first handicap. Next was Bobby Rossborough (37.32), Michael Diver (39.07), Bobby Young (42.43), and Peter Rudzinski (48.52). For the women was fastest over the course and winner was Pamela McCrossan (39.13), followed by Anne Murray (41.02). Anne was also winner of first handicap. Next was Kath Scott (41.42) and Marina McCallum (43.50).

The next day was the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club (SVHC) Christmas Handicap which took place in Pollock Park. Again distance was only approximate – roughly 5.3 miles. Five of our harriers took part with excellent results. Winner of the Dave McKirdy trophy (first overall) was Gerry Montgomery running 31.35. Next harrier home and first lady was Pamela McCrossan (34.16), followed by Murray McDonald (34.27), Bobby Young (35.33) and Pete Cartwright (37.00).

Two days later was the harriers Christmas Handicap which took place from the Kilbowie Roundabout. Juniors and seniors were running. Our youngest juniors went first running a three lap course of just over a mile. Actual times were: Lewis Heath (11.36), Rachel Busby (8.50) and Chloe Wright (10.00).

Next up were the older juniors and the seniors running approximately 2.75 miles. Again it was handicapped so it was a staggered start. The runners in finishing order were: Fiona McCue (19.09) – lady winner, Brian Reilly (17.13) mens winner, Marina McCallum (19.18) first female handicap, David Mitchell (20.23) first male handicap, Christine Duncanson (20.49), C. Reid (21.53), Lynne Fairbairn (20.57), Marc Busby (19.07), Ryan Nelson (19.26), Tony Dolan (18.37), Iain Robertson (15.45), Brian Gallagher (16.57), Alan Lorimer (19.06), K. McPhail (23.10), Gerry Montgomery (16.15), Connor Shields (21.19), Lewis Wood (23.22), Bobby Young (18.27), Ryan Savage (16.28), Anne Murray (18.29), Terry Shannon (18.30), Pamela McCrossaN (17.01), David Brown (16.39), Scott McDade (23.43), Kirsty Kelly (23.44), K. Johnston (23.48), Pete Bowman (16.54) and Keir Martin (24.22).
