Championships

Now that the first part of the winter is over the main championships are coming up over the country. The real big one of course is the Scottish Cross Country Championships at Falkirk on 21st February and the club really needs all the best runners out. Last year we had seven starters and six finishers which was not a good turnout for a club like ours. Make sure that Yvonne has your name - entry forms are not out yet for this but the earlier she has your intention to run the easier her job is. Then there is the club championship. The championship has been contested since 1885 and there are many outstanding names on the trophy but every single club champion deserves respect. Many, many more club runners have raced in the event with good races all the way down the field. It should apart from anything else be part of every runner's preparation for the National - and besides, not quite as important as the race itself, there are double points for the club winter league. The third race is the National 4K Cross Country Championship and as a National Championship it should be supported. Yvonne needs to know like yesterday if you want entered for this one.

We already have some runners going but the more the better. This week end we have a variety of events being contested by club members - the Scottish Senior Closed Indoor Championships are on at the Kelvin Hall on Saturday and Sunday with the West District Championships for Under 13 - Under 20 at the same venue and the Jack Crawford Road Race is on at Bishopbriggs for the road runners.
