On Saturday the Scottish National Masters Cross Country Championships was run behind Irvine Academy. Clydesdale Harriers had four females and three males taking part over the predominantly flat course. First up the females ran two laps which equated to just over four miles in distance. First Harrier home was Pamela McCrossan (26.17), followed by Anne Murray (28.01). Putting in a very strong finish to out-kick fellow team mate, Marina McCallum in the last 400 metres (with whom she’d been running alongside throughout the race) was Fiona McCue (28.19), and then Marina (28.31). Pamela, Anne and Fiona also won a well deserved silver team medal for second place (see above)
The men ran next running three laps which equated to almost 10k. First Harrier finisher was Gerry Montgomery (37.24), followed closely by Gary Dick (38.01) and Peter Rudzinski (47.21).
The previous weekend was the Club Cross Country at Carleith Farm. The juniors ran first over varying distances. Under 11s were Rachel Busby (6.18), A. Hunnter (7.16) and Lewis Hay (7.17). Under 13 runners were K. Alexander (11.56), David Newton (11.52) and Connor Shields (12.05). Under 15 runners were Tony Dolan (18.30), Lewis Wood (22.34), Claire Reid (19.38) and Kirsty Kelly (20.26) with Under 17 runner Peter Bowman (16.13).
The seniors ran next running a distance of approximately 5.75 miles. Winner was Iain Robertson (38.42), followed by John Kennedy (38.48), John McArthur (38.53), Paul Carroll (39.15), Gerry Montgomery (41.02), Brian Gallagher (41.55), Bobby Rossborough (41.58), Michael Diver (43.25), David Halpin (43.54), Pamela McCrossan (44.58), Anne Murray (46.11), Fiona McCue (46.58), Marina McCallum (47.38), Peter Halpin (53.12) and Peter Rudzinski (56.44).
