Secondary Schools Championships

There were only two of the younger members in action at the Scottish Secondary Schools Championships at Irvine on Saturday. In the Under 15-Under 17 Boys race Peter Bowman in the colours of Bearsden Academy was twenty fourth finisher in a field of 85 starters. This was a commendable performance given that he has not raced cross country since the club championships. Club, County and Athletics Partnership Champion, Peter is now concentrating on the summer season. Diane Nicholson was the other competitor and raced for Boclair Academy in the Under Under 14-Under 15 Girls event where she was one hundred and ninth. Diane has not raced since the County Championships at Kirkintilloch where she dropped out injured - little wonder as it happened. She had hurt her leg ski-ing at school and then made it worse playing football at school before turning out in the County Championships. It is good to see her racing again. Phil is probably on the case getting her back to training for the summer!!!
