I have put up two extracts from training diaries over the time of the blog and I think I'll put up several more specimen weeks from Clydesdale Harriers of the recent past. This time it's Allan Adams Diary for the week from 13th June 1999.
Monday: 6:30 am: 5 Miles Easy; 7:00 pm: 7 miles relaxed on the road.
Tuesday: 6:30 - 5 Miles Easy; 6:00 pm - 5,4,3,2,1 minute efforts with 2 minutes recovery.
Wednesday: am: Rested; pm: 5 Easy
Thursday: am: Rested; pm: Dumbarton 10K in 30:30
Friday: am: 5 Miles pm: 7 Miles Easy
Saturday: 11:00 am: 16 x 1 Minute on/off efforts; 5:30 pm: Easy 5 Miles
Sunday: 10:00 am: 20 miles in 2:02.
This was a slightly easier week than usual because of the Polaroid Race on the Thursday evening nevertheless he was fitting it in with his work as a quantity surveyor. On Monday he drove to York and back between the two runs and felt tired carrying out the second run.

More posts on how the top guys train would be a great help to the up and coming athletes & some of the auld ones who are perhaps not doing it right!! It will let them see how they need to train to get the best out of themselves.
Keep up the posts, always an interesting read.
