Press Report week-ending 16th August

The Clydesdale Harriers travelled to Broadwood (just outside Cumbernauld) last Wednesday to run in the Broadwood 5k, starting and finishing at the Broadwood Stadium. Fastest finisher for the club was Gerry Montgomery (17.42), followed by Pete Cartwright (19.46), Pamela McCrossan (20.01), Marina McCallum (20.45), Colin Gray (23.55) and Yvonne Green (25.45).

Last Sunday (9th) was the Helensburgh Half Marathon. In high temperatures fastest finisher was again Gerry Montgomery (1.22.12 pb and1st veteran over 50), followed by Paul Carroll (1.22.26), Kevin Farmer (1.26.13), Bobby Rossborough (1.29.00), Kath Scott (1.33.15 and 1st veteran over 45), Marina McCallum (1.34.18 and 2nd vet over 35) and Colin Gray (1.55.32).

On the same weekend but the day before was the Devil O’ The Highlands (43 mile ultra race on the latter stages of the West Highland Way) where Aileen Scott continued to make huge improvements by running the race an hour faster than last year and securing third lady in an impressive time of 7h 20m 4s. In fact if it had not been for cramp in her calves during the run her time might have been even quicker so the best is yet to come from Aileen.

The Dundonald 10.5k was on the 5th of the month and had John McArthur (see picture) running 37.03 followed by Gus Cairney in 39.53.

Next events for the club are the Junior and Senior events at the Great Scottish Run.
