The three Under 13 girls to run for the club at Kilmarnock all did well - Roisin McShea kept her fine form of late to be fifth in 13:07, Rachel Busby was fourteenth in 14:21 and Kirsty Alexander was fifteenth in 14:24. Roisin has had a very good summer - just look at her times on the track and her frequent running in the Parkrun 5K races has made it a straightfirward transition to cross country. She has done enough and not too much this year and if se resists the temotation to start training for 5K on the road she should stay injury free and have a good season. Rachel has just returned from missing a whole summer season due to a foot injury not uncommon in youngsters - my own son had the same problem - and ran well on the soft Kilmarnock going. We all look forward to her progress over the next few months. Kirsty was only three seconds off Rachel's time and with Phil's coaching she should also come through in the coming weeks. It's some team for the Dunbartonshires!
Coach Phil Dolan had this to say about the running at the weekend "All children ran well and we had representation in all but U11 boys and U17 Girls. Peter was actually under the weather and last year the boy from Kirkie who finished third was beating him. He has been leading the Seniors in all the rep sessions this season to date. All being well we will have at least four teens/Under 20's in the Senior squad next year."
