Last weekend (20th) was the Clydesdale Harriers Open 5k which started in Clydebank Business Park and finished on the canal towpath. Results next week.
The weekend of the 14th had Clydesdale Harriers competing in no less than five events. The Scottish Schools Cross Country and the Indoor League Match (Kelvin Hall) were the junior events. Full results of these next week. First of the senior events was the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon. In near perfect conditions fastest finisher for the club was Paul Carroll (1.19.14), closely followed by Gerry Montgomery (1.21.45 pb), Iain Robertson (1.23.43 pb), Kevin Farmer (1.24.25), Hugh Laverty (1.25.16), Derek Halpin (1.28.00), Pamela McCrossan (1.28.11 and 3rd female and 1st DAAA), Bobby Young (1.28.38 and 1st vet 60), Kath Scott (1.33.23 and 1st vet 45), Christine Duncanson (1.41.23), Watson Jones (1.46.52), Yvonne Green (1.51.58 pb), and Alex McDonald (2.00.44).
The next race that day was slightly further afield in Lancaster for the Trimpell 20 Miler – a race popular with runners doing the London Marathon and other spring marathons. It is a flat out and back course along cycle paths. Fastest finisher for the club was Stephen Thomson (2.20.27), followed by Donald Cameron (2.22.26 pb), Marina McCallum (2.33.45 pb) and Stuart Allison (2.36.28).
Lastly that weekend was the Gartmorn 6 where Pete Cartwright ran a solid 41.30.
On the previous weekend we had five races being contested by the harriers. The first was the Smokies Ladies Only 10 Miler. Kath Scott travelled to Arbroath to take part and it wasn’t in vain coming an impressive 6th in a time of 69.23.
Lasswade 10 Miler was also that day and Paul Carroll put in his normal good performance over the challenging course finishing in a time of 61.09 closely followed by Gerry Montgomery in 62.42. The Bishops Hill Race had Prasad Prasad winning the event outright in a time of 20.12.
The ultra runners were out in force for the Glasgow to Edinburgh Double Marathon where Aileen Scott was our fastest finisher running a respectable 9.10.23, followed by John Foley in 9.10.23, and Peter Halpin (9.52.01).
Lastly that weekend was the Edinburgh University Kings Building 5 Miler where Michael Diver ran a solid 30.16.
