Clydesdale Harriers were busy last weekend (20-21st) in various races. First off was the Scottish Athletics Junior Road Relay Championships which took place at Rouken Glen Park. Under 13 Girls and Boys were both running 2500m. Fastest girl for the club was Roisin McShea who finished an impressive 12th in 9.55, followed by Caitlin Dick (11.12). David Campbell was the only boy running 10.47. Under 15 Girls and Boys were running 3700m. Claire Reid finished well up the field in a time of 15.57. The boys had Tony Dolan finishing 30th in 13.41. Under 17 Men had Peter Bowman finishing 16th in a time of 16.53. Lastly Under 20 Men had David Brown finishing 23rd (18.27), closely followed by Ryan Nelson (18.49) over their 5000m course.
The Club’s own organised open event, The Clydebank 5k produced a lot of fast times over the flat course which took in Clydebank Business Park and the canal. Most of the Harriers were helping out and marshalling around the course so only two members actually ran. Fastest finisher for the Club was Bobby Young (19.39 and 1st vet over 60), followed by Pete Cartwright (20.15).
Lastly on that weekend was the Alloa Half Marathon where Hugh Laverty ran an impressive 1.26.51 over the undulating course.
The previous weekend had the Indoor League Match final at the Kelvin Hall. Jonathan Farrell took part in no less than five events. 60m in 7.33s (3rd), 200m in 23.38 (3rd), High Jump in 1.60m (4th), Triple Jump in 10.35m (4th) and Shot Putt in 8.60m (5th). Peter Bowman competed in two events. 800m in 2.08 (3rd), 400m in 55.8s (4th). Cameron McLeod competed in the Long Jump (4.87m) and the 60m hurdles.
Lastly the Scottish Schools Cross Country was at Beach Park, Irvine that weekend. Under 14 Girls had Roisin McShea finishing 32nd in a time of 12.03, closely followed by Rachel Busby finishing 52nd in a time of 12.33 over 2400m. Aged 14-15 Boys had Connor Ewing finishing 17th in 15.53 over 4000m. Aged 15-17 Boys had Tony Dolan finishing 70th over 5000m. Lastly Over 17 Boys had Peter Bowman finishing 14th in 23.23 over 6000m.
