I missed the races at Goldenhill park on Friday because I was working, but from all accounts it was horrible weather, wet, cold and windy with the course being shortened for safety reasons. Details below,
In the Primary 6 races, Cira Devaney and Tony Gallagher both had excellent runs, winning their races and picking up gold medals.
In the Primary 7 races, I think Lewis Hay ran but sorry I'm unsure of his position in the race.
In the S1 girls race, in an exciting finish, a great performance by Roisin McShea who finished joint first and a gold medal when the race officials could'nt separate her and another runner on the line. Rachel Busby, who kept up well for a long way had a great run to finish 4th. Rachel was awarded a bronze medal on the day for her efforts (due to the joint first place), which she was really pleased with and I would like to thank the organisers for recognising her efforts.
In the S2 girls race Miren Wright had a great run, finishing 1st with a gold medal, with Kirsty Alexander also running well and closely following to finish in 3rd place.
In the S2 boys race Connor Ewing had a fall during the race but managed to pick himself up to finish an impressive second, with a silver medal.
In the S3 girls race Claire Reid was the outright winner, running really impressively from start to finish.
In the S3 boys race, Tony Dolan looked the winner all the way to be caught in the last 50 metres or so to finish 2nd with a silver medal.
I might have missed some of the junior results, if so please contact me through the link on the junior blog.
Well done to all the harriers, who really ran well on the day.
